Battle continues to float Ever Given, two dredgers on the jo

The 20,000 TEU MV Ever Given, a Panama-flagged ship that carries cargo between Asia and Europe, is still grounded in Suez Canal, according to Canal service provider Leth Agencies.

The colossal ship, spanning 400 meters in length and 59 meters in width, ran aground on March 23, at 6 nautical miles from the southern entrance of the canal.

At the moment, around 10 tugboats and two dredger vessels are involved in the operation, working around the clock to refloat the vessel. Additional machinery and equipment on the banks are doing their part to assist.

Yesterday, the three vessels behind MV Ever Given were assisted out of the Canal, bringing them back to Port Suez Anchorage.

“The Canal is thus clear and ready to escort the vessel out of the Canal, once she has been successfully refloated,” Leth Agencies said.

Gusting winds of 30 knots and poor visibility due to a dust storm are believed to be the likely cause of the grounding, which left the boxship stuck sideways in a narrow point of the waterway.
